Functional Literacy and Numeracy Training Manual - Nepal
This manual is a training guide aimed at enhancing the literacy, numeracy, life skills, and entrepreneurial capabilities of adolescents and youth aged 16-24, particularly those who are illiterate, semi-literate, or have dropped out of school. The manual is applied in the POWER 4 AY project, which targets marginalized and disadvantaged groups in Nepal, focusing on the districts of Banke, Surkhet, Dailekh, and Achham. The training spans three months and is divided into four modules, each designed to progressively build skills through interactive and practical activities. The manual emphasizes active participation, practical application of skills, and regular assessments to ensure effective learning and development.
The four modules are structured to cover different aspects of personal and professional growth. "Module 1: Me and My Future" focuses on self-awareness, self-confidence, and basic numeracy skills, helping participants identify personal strengths and set future goals. "Module 2: Communication and Teamwork" emphasizes effective communication, understanding fractions, and working collaboratively in groups through role-playing and group discussions. "Module 3: Decision Making and Problem Solving" teaches decision-making processes and problem-solving techniques using case studies and scenario analysis. "Module 4: Finding Opportunities and Skill Development" aims at identifying business opportunities and developing entrepreneurial skills, including financial literacy and business planning. Overall, the training guide aims to empower adolescents and youth with essential skills for personal and economic development, contributing to their overall well-being and future opportunities.
